Frequently
Asked Questions?
What
is formal recruitment?
A designated recruitment period during which a series
of organized social activities are held by each sorority;
recruitment is governed by Panhellenic.
What
is Panhellenic?
Panhellenic is the governing board of sororities at CSUSB
who belong to the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC);
which is a national organization that 26 national sororities
have membership. NPC acts as a 26-member Congress. It
is the governing body for NPC sororities. Panhellenic
unites every sorority woman regardless of individual affiliation.
Panhellenic was designed to strengthen their values and
establish common goals.
What
is quota?
Quota will be determined by the number of women accepting
at least one invitation to the second night of invitational
parties during formal recruitment, divided by the number
of Panhellenic Council member sororities. Open House is
not an invitational party. However, quota may be adjusted
by the Greek advisor on bid matching night should the
original number be disproportionate to the number of women
participating in recruitment.
What
is a legacy?
A daughter, sister or granddaughter of an initiated member
of a sorority.
What
is a Sigma Rho Chi (recruitment counselor)?
Each Sigma Rho Chi is a Greek woman at CSUSB who has
chosen to disaffiliate with her chapter in order to better
advise and assist women who are interested in Greek Life. Every
woman who registers for recruitment is assigned a Rho Chi to
answer any questions you might have during Recruitment Week.
In order to respect the job of the Sigma Rho Chi, please do not
ask her what chapter she is a member of, and if you happen
to know, please honor the program and do not share that
information with others.
